Christmas 2: Shepherds
December 26, 2021
Sometimes it feels like our lives are full of bad news. We’re the bottom of the barrel, on the sidelines, and unnoticed. When we have a steady of diet of bad news, it affects how we perceive and engage with the world. On the night that Jesus was born, God made sure that the first to know were those who were unnoticed and unimportant to the rest of their world; He gave Good News to those who were accustomed to having only bad news. What bad news do you have in your life? Could you use some good news? Listen in as we explore this offering of Good News.
Christmas Eve: The Unexpected God
December 24, 2021
On Christmas Eve we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus and look forward to his return. But… why? 2,000 years later we find ourselves living lives often full of pain, struggle, stress, difficulty, and brokenness. The struggle in our lives is real and tangible, what does a man who lived so long ago have to do with it? In Jesus God shows up not in majesty and splendor, but as a baby, born to a peasant couple and laid in a dirty manger, drawing the fear and hatred of a king, the worship of outcast shepherds, and the gifts and devotions of non-Jewish foreigners. Jesus came not to demand our attention, but to give us his; to walk alongside us, show us a different way, to light our path and enable us to follow it. So we gather at Christmastime, to remember and worship the God who came to us in the most humble of circumstances, to guide us from brokenness to wholeness. Listen in as we discuss the unexpected ways Jesus shows up in our lives.
Advent 4: Love
December 19, 2021
Why do we look at the theme of Love in the fourth week of Advent? Love both announces the coming of the King, reminds us of his return, and tells us how we are commanded to live in the time in between. The love Jesus asks of us and enables us for is more than an emotion, more than a conscious choice. It becomes a characteristic of who we are in God. Listen in and explore this topic with us.
Advent 2: Peace
December 5, 2021
In the second week of Advent we look at the theme of peace. Jesus offers us a peace that is not dependent upon lack of hostility and chaos around us, but that wells up within us despite what is going on around us. It is in such peace that he establishes and expands his Kingdom. Listen in as we explore this idea together.
